Club Overview

Established in 1914, the Sacramento Amateur Radio Club (SARC) is an ARRL-affiliated Club. The Sacramento Amateur Radio Club participates in every annual Field Day held in a public place. In this way we can demonstrate what Amateur Radio operators do in an emergency communications mode in the field. Some of our partners during field day the last few years has been the California Governors Office of Emergency Services - CalOES ACS (Auxiliary Communications Service) and the Sacramento County Sheriffs SHARP (Sheriffs Amateur Radio Patrol) with some of their Communications equipment on display.

The SARC has been designated a Special Service Club by the American Radio Relay League (ARRL) because almost every member of the SARC is a member variously of the ARES , the County or City of Sacramento RACES (Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service) , the State of California CalOES Communications Reserve Unit (formerly Auxiliary Communications Service) or its Drowning Accident Rescue Team, the California Department of Forestry Volunteers-in-Prevention, and/or the Sacramento Vitalant (BloodSource) Amateur Radio Station. The SARC constitution states that we "...offer radio communications assistance to State, county, and municipal governments and disaster relief organizations in emergencies affecting the health and safety of the community". The club members participate on a weekly basis for these organization's Amateur Radio nets and related activities. SARC also supports the California Blood Bank Society's Amateur Radio Net.
